aboutpagejen

- Does this sound familiar? -

I want to look and feel healthier but have no time. I am taking care of others first.

Sure - I am stressed, but isn’t everyone? Isn't life supposed to be stressful?

I only fall asleep when I'm exhausted or when I take my supplements.

I don’t like to cook, nor do I have the time so it’s easier to eat out.

Transformation is possible.

At 22, I knew how to cook pasta and broccoli but not much else. By 25, I was living in New York City where you can get whatever you want to eat whenever you want - any time of day. I laugh when I recall the folders of takeout menus I used to have.

Being 25, you shouldn't be so exhausted that you have to go to a sleep doctor but I was and even featured in the local paper on a story about sleep deprivation and young women. Maybe I shouldn’t have been going to bed at 2am and expecting to wake up at 6am to exercise. Lots of systems were off, but I was young and wasn’t thinking much about it until I was.

This book changed my life.

Enter a NY Times Book Review for Marilu Henner’s Total Health Makeover. Prior to reading this book, I didn’t question where my food came from. After all, I drank a gallon of milk a week and I could eat a box of pasta in one sitting. No wonder I was puffy and had heartburn -- not to mention Epstein- Barr, H-Pylori, an appendectomy and tonsillectomy during the ages of 17-21.

After reading this book, I began questioning my food choices. With an interest in food (always, I am Italian!), I was off to Vegetarian Summerfest. There, I got a chance to see where food really came from.

TMI, but necessary to tell you - I had the most amazing bowel movements (LOL, yes really!) and, after a few weeks, my skin was glowing. Through this change, I discovered the incredible value of eating whole foods and naturally cut out processed food and sugar from my diet.

People started asking what I was doing because my body transformed. My life transformed.

  • I traded in my late nights of drinking (my first job was at a beer company and I was currently working in Silicon Alley) for early nights on my yoga mat.
  • I immersed myself in weekend classes and workshops on health and delved into this natural world before it was mainstream.

At this time, I was working in sales for a top Internet advertising form. My time was quickly monopolized by my career. I slowly began to feel disconnected from the work I was doing. Even though my body was in good shape, something wasn’t right.

September 11, 2001

On September 11, 2001, the world as I knew it changed and my life changed. It was on that day that I truly learned how important it is to live in the present. It was then I decided to do work I could put my heart into and make a difference helping others. I have been in your shoes and I am here to support you.
